Be Who You Are
All too often in life young people are told who to be. How many times have you heard, “You’re not smart enough. You need to be a doctor. You’re not pretty enough. You can’t go to that college.” The list goes on. The purpose of this Little Red Riding Hood photo shoot was to inspire people to be who they are–not who society wants them to be.
I often hear teens say things like, “I wanted to be a nurse but I was told to aim higher.” It’s time to be who you are–not pretend to be someone else. Society wants us all to be from the same mold. Society wants women to all be a size 2 and 5’10” with long, flowing hair. Guys are all supposed to be built like a rock with chiseled arms, board shoulders, and incredible athleticism. Here’s a secret–only 1% of the world’s population fits that profile.
Stand Up For Yourself
We need people with a variety of skills to make the world go around. I remember seeing a statistic that broke down Michael Jordan’s annual income by the minute. It was impressive to see how much he earned every minute of the day! Compared to Bill Gates, he looked poor. My point is that success is not measured by society’s standards. YOU get to set your own goals. It’s time to stand up and be who you are, not who your friends or even your parents want you to be. It’s about YOU. This isn’t about being disrespectful or belligerent; it’s about standing up for what you KNOW is right. You should never be forced to be or do anything you don’t believe in.
When you do stand up for yourself, you may find that the problem you were facing is smaller than you thought. You may also find that it’s bigger than you thought. Standing up for yourself is the first step to breaking through and discovering who you really are. If you feel you are being pushed to be someone or do something you aren’t comfortable with, make sure to find a trustworthy person to talk to. Often times people turn to a favorite teacher, guidance counselor, or pastor. You don’t have to stand up and face challenges alone. There will always be someone to stand by your side if you seek them out.
No matter what BE BOLD. BE CONFIDENT. BE YOU.
My Business Model
My entire business is based on the same philosophy that guided this shoot and its message: “I believe in individuality and expression of self.” Nothing at Kyle Rinker Photography happens that isn’t guided by that single principle.. From the way we respond to emails, your inclusion in what you want in your photo session, and your big image reveal after all the editing is done–everything is customized to YOU.
